Good Trouble Lives On

Now is the time to get into more good trouble and necessary trouble for the survival of morality, decency, and humanity. Across North Carolina, people are rising up and speaking out in opposition to unconscionable legislative acts — in essence, the crimes being perpetrated against our democracy and our freedom.

Collectively, we must strive to preserve and advance the founding principles of our nation, as well as the human and civil rights for which our foremothers and forefathers fought so valiantly.

Announcement Regarding NC Senate District 23 Vacancy

Dear Fellow Democrats, Friends, and Supporters,

The role of a servant leader is both challenging and rewarding, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent my community in the North Carolina General Assembly. Many thanks to all who supported me in the recent 2026 primary, reelecting me to another term in the NC House of Representatives for District 50.

Several days after that election, NC Senator Graig Meyer announced his resignation from the NC Senate, having fought the good fight for 12 years in the NC General Assembly, first as representative for NC House District 50 and then as senator for District 23. As he continues to work for justice in his new position with the NC Justice Center, someone will need to be appointed to the seat he will vacate on March 31.

I am pleased to announce my decision to seek the appointment to NC Senate to represent the people of Senate District 23, which includes Orange, Caswell, and Person counties. My experiences in the community over the years, both as a representative and a county commissioner, have provided me with a wealth of information and insight regarding the diverse issues, needs, and values of an ever-broadening and multifaceted community.

While I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues in the House, being in the Senate will present yet another opportunity for me to serve. The voices of small-town USA and rural America must be heard and acknowledged in the NC Legislature, and I pledge to persist in standing up and speaking out so that everyone has access to and benefits from the resources available to fulfill their dreams.

Together, we must maintain our pursuit of a sound basic education for all, affordable housing, universal healthcare, resources for mental and behavioral health, support for farmers and small businesses, economic development, climate change mitigation, universal broadband, immigration reform, and much more.

My elders taught me to hold fast to knowledge, never take a defeatist attitude, respect all people, and persevere with humility. So I am taking a stand for our rights, our freedom, and justice.

As the appointment process unfolds, I humbly ask for your support. I look forward to the possibility of continuing my public service in yet another capacity as the NC Senator for District 23.

Respectfully,

Renée A. Price
